Some of you may be heading on your holidays now that the school term will be finishing soon, and you want to spend some time away in the sun. Before you go though, make sure to follow these simple tips whilst you are away to keep your home safe

• Tell us you will be going away for any extended period of time
• Have someone you trust check on the property from time to time to open the windows and let fresh air in, turn on the lights and collect your mail. This stops it from being obvious the place in unoccupied.
• Make sure you or your next of kin are contactable in an emergency situation.
• Make sure the property is secure, lock all of the windows and doors.
• Don’t announce on social media that you are going on holiday, this can alert burglars that the property is unoccupied.
